About Us - What is PACT?Our mission is the protection and retrieval of children who go missing for whatever reason.Parents & Abducted Children Together (PACT) is a non-profit organisation registered in the UK and the US. It was founded in 1999 by Lady (Catherine) Meyer . PACT is an associate of the US-based International Center for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC), which was co-founded by Ernie Allen and Catherine Meyer in 1998. We campaign, we research and we help make policy. For more than a decade, we have been fighting for a better and more coherent response to the growing problem of missing and abducted children at home and abroad. We have been a driving force behind major changes to policy and practice in the UK, France and the US. All our work is targeted on one goal: to find answers to the tragedy of the tens of thousands of children who go missing or are abducted every year. Why we are differentPACT plays a unique and active role in helping to shape policies, which better protect vulnerable children. While we cannot quantify the exact number of missing children who have benefited from our work, in the long-term PACT will have a significant impact because our focus is on the cause, not the symptom. Few charities in our field employ the same mix of advocacy, action and research. No charity of our size has done more to raise public awareness about missing children or to prompt changes in legislation and practice. This is also why we need your help and support . Make a PACT and make your donation go further. |
