Missingkids Website and PostersAn estimated 140,000 children go missing in the UK every year – that is one child every five minutes - and their disappearance causes great anguish to the families they leave behind. Speed is critical in locating missing and abducted children, particularly when they have been taken across international borders. PACT’s aim is to help trace these children quickly before any harm is done to them. We do this by promoting the Missingkids Website and by funding the production of posters downloaded from the Missingkids Website. We are constantly looking for new corporate partners to help us. Missingkids Web SiteModern technology offers an unprecedented tool to help the police find these children. Originally created in the US, the Missingkids Website can distribute images of, and information on, missing children to police and public across the world. The technology includes age progression that has been successful in identifying children years after their abduction. The website is now available in eighteen countries, with national sites linked in a global network enabling its access and use worldwide. ![]()
Poster distribution
The police rely heavily on the help of the public in retrieving a missing child. The distribution of a missing child’s photograph in the media and on posters is an important way of engaging the public’s cooperation. PACT has currently three commercial partners actively involved in its campaign: TescoPACT has been working in partnership with Tesco since 2002 Posters of missing children downloaded from the Missingkids Website are displayed in Tesco stores. Many children have been found as a result. EMCOR UKIn 2006, EMCOR UK launched its "Taking KidSafety to the Street" campaign in partnership with PACT and the police. It features posters of missing children on hundreds of company vehicles across the UK. Around 180 children have been found. Media Group BillboardsThe UK Media Group, a supplier of customer Information points to the Rail Franchise Networks and car park operators, has been advertising the Missingkids Website on their information boards for many years.
PACT seeks to expand these campaigns to other supermarkets and, if possible, to airports and petrol stations. Please contact us if you can help. |
