About PACT

Background
PACT is an international, non-profit organisation, registered in the USA and the UK. It was founded in 2000 by Lady Meyer, wife of the former British Ambassador to the United States. Its patrons are Cherie Blair, wife of the former British Prime Minister, and Laura Bush, the First Lady of the United States.

PACT’s initial mission was to fight parental child abduction across frontiers by raising awareness of a growing, but little-known, problem and by advocating solutions.

Today

Parental child abduction remains at the forefront of PACT’s concerns. But it has broadened its mission to include the location and retrieval of all children, who go missing.

In the UK, PACT works closely with the police, the government, and other non-profit organisations to meet this challenge. Much of PACT’s work is based on techniques successfully deployed in the US to help bring missing children safely home. PACT’s vision is truly international.

PACT now operates on a broad front. It is influential in advocacy, policy-making and research. All this work is targeted on one goal: to find answers to the tragedy of the thousands of children who go missing or are abducted every year.

PACT is an associate of ICMEC, the International branch of NCMEC (the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children), based in the USA.
