Poster Campaigns

In the UK alone, over 100,000 children go missing every year. All face serious risks while they are away, and their disappearance causes great anguish to the families they leave behind.

Speed is critical in locating missing and abducted children, particularly when they have been taken across international borders. The rapid distribution of a missing child’s photograph in the media and on posters can make the difference between a fast recovery and a prolonged search.

PACT’s aim is to help the Police trace these children quickly before any harm is done to them.

Missing children’s posters

PACT helps the police trace missing children by funding the production of posters downloaded from the Missingkids Website; and by seeking corporate partners to display them.

  • Tesco PosterTesco’s posters  

    In March 2002, PACT initiated a major poster campaign in partnership with the police and Tesco Plc. Posters of missing children downloaded from the website are being displayed in Tesco stores. This provides the British public with an opportunity to play an active role in helping the police locate missing children. Since the launch of the Tesco Campaign, over 100 children have been found.

When Tonia Brown saw herself featured on a Tesco poster, she realised that her family cared and she returned home. In another case, a member of Tesco’s own staff recognised the child featured and gave information that directly led to her recovery.

More recent sponsors
  • e-mail poster2007 - launch of a new campaign, called Missingkids TV, with Electronic Health Media to display pictures of missing children on the TV network they supply to over 120 hospitals and surgeries.

  • 2005 – Launch of national awareness campaign with EMCOR Group UK displaying posters of missing children on the back of their vans.

     
  • ASDA Leaflet2004 - ASDA distributed leaflets advertising the Missingkids Website in their stores.

  • 2003 - the UK Media Group, a supplier of Customer Information points to the Rail Franchise Networks and Car Park Operators, has started to advertise the Missingkids Website on their information boards.
     
  • Clear Channel Poster2003 - Clear Channel offered to advertise the Missingkids Website in 1,000 bus shelters for a period of 3 months.

PACT seeks to expand this campaign to other supermarkets and, if possible, to airports and petrol stations.
